The standard has a serious of classifications based on the level of protection offered by the footwear. The table below explains the scheme's classification in detail. CLASSIFICATION APPLICATION / BENEFIT SB Basic safety protection. 200 joule. Provides protection for toes against crushing etc. S1 200 joule toecap protection. As S2 plus these features; Penetrative resistance plate in sole of footwear for use on building sites or smiliar where sharp objects may penetrate through the outsole.
